Respect Yourself If You Want To Be Respected

Respect Yourself If You Want To Be Respected

Everyone’s dreams for their future might vary slightly, but most of us have one common goal: to reach our highest potential. We know it’s easy to make excuses and easy to let ourselves slide when life gets a little challenging. When things get stressful at work or at home, our fitness goals are often the first things to slide by the wayside. But that shouldn’t be the case.

Often, our calling for better health and fitness is less about physical appearance and more about the other aspects of our life that we feel it represents. A bitter breakup handled poorly or a layoff at work can turn into bad eating habits and unhealthy weight gain or weight loss. All these things are a reflection of our state of mind, and how well we take care of ourselves. From there, other parts of lives can be affected. Our relationships with loved ones, friendships, and work relationships can suffer due to our lack of self-confidence and self-respect.

Today I challenge you to treat yourself the way you expect others to treat you. We all suffer from negative self-talk, but we have the power to tone down that voice! Speak to yourself kindly, and be as quick to forgive yourself as you are to chastise. Take control of your mind and your body by treating yourself as a work of art that deserves to be respected. Then, expect the same from other people. You wouldn’t let your friends speak negatively to you, would you?

Don’t do it to yourself! It’s time to let go of the past and start toward a brand new future.
